ROLE OVERVIEW
The role of the Category Analyst is to support and drive category sales by delivering insight, from evaluations and reporting, back to the Shops and Category Managers.
The role works closely with the business to interpret trends through data, turning these into key strategies for the Category team to include in their business plans. The role will also hold responsibility for all Commercial aspects of a small portfolio of categories including range selection, promotions, pricing, marketing, new product development, supply chain management and over-rider negotiations.
The role requires the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with our branded partners, suppliers and internal departments and to at all times deliver on Rontec’s core values.
The Category Analyst will work alongside the operations department to effectively deliver the category strategies and drive growth across a number of KPIs.
KEY ACTIVITIES
- Provide recommendations to Category Managers, through the analysis of performance data, to help build and develop category strategies.
- Responsible for the profitability and growth of a small portfolio of categories.
- Assess business and market trends to recommend, test and analyse data from new initiatives.
- Assist in planning promotional activities and sales events.
- Assist in developing advertising and promotional strategies for business growth.
- Manage all documentation and Stores communication for designated categories.
- Review business activities and provide feedback to management.
- Create business presentations and sales proposals as required.
- Conduct post-promotional financial reviews.
- Prepare customised reports to management as required.
- Provide guidance to sales team to meet revenue goals.
- Set pricing levels/bands for their product categories.
- Responsible for providing the Database team with all necessary information to keep the back-office epos systems accurate.
- Build a thorough knowledge of designated product areas through supplier interface and research, tracking performance vs market and benchmarking against competitors.
- Be fully up to date with the latest developments and initiatives across designated categories with a strong understanding of the wider industry.
- Implement and maintain appropriate data files and monthly competitor price files and ensure that this information is readily available for use by the Category Management and Operations teams.

- To protect the company brand and supplier partnerships through building strong professional relationships.
- To ensure sustainable profit performance for the business through increased category sales and their associated gross margins.
- To provide accurate reports, data and action plans; treating all internal information with the upmost confidentiality
