Being one of the leading players in the UK forecourt industry with more than 264 petrol stations across England and Wales we have a fantastic opportunity for an Operations Accountant to join our head office finance team on a 12–18 months Fixed Term Contract to cover Maternity Leave.
The Role
The role holder is responsible for processing the group’s nominal ledgers in accordance with the account’s timetables and requirements.
The role also plays a key role in supporting the Finance Director with the preparation of the financial section of the company’s monthly board report.
You will also need the ability to produce work accurately in a timely manner to ensure deadlines are achieved and that all the information is treated in a sensitive and confidential manner.
KEY ACTIVITIES
- Process the group’s Monthly journals
- Complete the monthly reconciliations of balance sheet nominal accounts, to be reviewed with the FD on a monthly basis
- Budget and variance reporting
- Assisting with the preparation of the monthly board report
- Assisting with the year end audit and preparation of the statutory accounts.
- Update and maintain accounts databases
- Maintain files and electronic records
- Track and resolve accounting problems and discrepancies as needed
- To comply with accounting policies and regulations.
- Reconciliations of card debtors.
- Managing assistant accountant
Experience and Qualifications required:
- Strong analytical mind set and variance analysis skills
- Strong Excel skills required
- Operational knowledge desirable
- AAT qualified or part qualified – desired
